Career Highlights:

Prior to joining academia, Professor Edwards was a US Air Force officer was assigned to the National Security Agency. After completing the joint DoD/NRO Advanced Academic Degree Program, he served as the senior business advisor and contracting officer to a directorate of the National Reconnaissance Office. In that role, he oversaw more than $700M of highly classified research and development contracts with organizations such as Boeing, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Google.

While in private practice, Prof. Edwards represented over 300 clients in felony criminal cases ranging from minor drug possession to murder. He served as Conflict Counsel for the 15th Judicial District Public Defender’s Office in Lafayette and Vermilion Parishes, and a Criminal Justice Act appointee for the Federal Public Defender’s Office for the Western District of Louisiana.

Prof. Edwards remains an active member of the Louisiana Bar, and enjoys defending white collar crime cases and advocating for military veterans in their pursuit of benefits from the VA. His current research focuses on corporate tax evasion, the economic impact of over-criminalization in America, and contingency contracting during natural disasters.

I design and deliver classes my classes in a manner that encourages students to apply the information to their day-to-day lives.

What advice would you give to those considering the online MBA program?

Each class you take will present an opportunity for personal growth and, if you're currently employed, an opportunity to contribute in a new way at your current job. Don't miss out on opportunities to apply what you're learning at work right away!

Why did you start teaching?

Every professor has a different story, but I was one of those people that just "always knew" this is what I wanted to do. I love learning and I love helping people, so what better place to work than a university?
